Bridges span physical obstacles and connect communities both literally and figuratively speaking.
I have an appreciation for these great structures and their engineering regardless of their size or age.
I’ve photographed bridges for as long as I’ve owned a camera – always, yet I’m unable to pin point their attraction. Yes, I’m impressed by the engineering of large constructions – old and recent but I find little bridges that cross a stream or a ditch equally pleasing.
The ‘Bridges’ gallery is a collection of images of such bridges, some tower at great heights and span valleys while others are just a couple of metres long maybe even less than a meter wide.
They seem to me to possess a character and an aesthetic that sets them apart
