My photography has evolved in recent years.  I am drawn to capture an image and the results seem to work better than some of my previous photographic practices.  I feel more ‘at one’ with my work and it doesn’t exactly follow the rules I learned in my earlier photography years

Capturing a sense of the sound, smell and feel before my eyes is contemplative photography to me.  I didn’t set out on this route; I began to notice the shots I liked most, were captured when I was alone and naturally inspired by my connectedness to my surroundings – I was ‘in the zone’

I allow the scene to call me rather than search for the shot.  Appreciation of my immediate environment, capturing the visual richness of ordinary daily experience, the transformation of the landscape in varying weathers and the bright and shadow of light appeal to me

January Stillness

January Stillness

This cool January, hazy shot of birds on a dead tree in the river Slaney at Ferrycarrig was ‘calling’ me for two days in differing weather conditions – I’m glad I responded when I did

I love the resulting image
